Atlanta Cooknotes

1/2 cup butter

4 eggs

1/4-1/2 cup milk

6 thick slices of bread

Optional: cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place butter in a nine by thirteen-inch pan, and melt in the oven. In a large bowl, combine eggs and milk, beating well. Soak each slice of bread in egg mixture until well coated. Place coated bread in buttered pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake ten minutes on one side, turn, and bake ten minutes longer. Serve with sprinkled sugar, syrup, or preserves.

Yield: 3-4 servings

Notes:

  1. Scaled this recipe down with great success

  2. Found it to be very rich and buttery in flavor

  3. Not being particularly sweet as is, it went really nicely with a little powdered sugar
